i take back what i said about hating pumpkin soup. michael made this huge vat of pumpkin soup from scratch..it was like he was cooking for an entire orphanage or something!! economic masters students seriously have too much free time of their hands. he spent a whole afternoon dicing up a pumpkin twice the size of my head, and a couple more hours watching over the soup and seasoning it. i dunno what he did to neutralize the pumpkiny taste that i hate, but the soup ended up tasting somewhat like minestrone! not so tomato-y of course but still yummy. michael is also one of my favorite chefs now! how come austrian and thai people can cook so well??
last weekend xiaofang and i made egg tarts and they came out quite wrinkly but tasted quite legit. altho i have to admit we cheated and i bought the pie crust dough so all we had to do was to make the egg filling. this weekend im going to try using the roti prata dough because that has many layers and will be more flaky! i asked nejmun if i could get the pre made roti prata slices at the indian grocery store and the conversation went something like this:
me: nej where can i buy roti prata dough?
her: huh what are you talking about
me: roti prata…you know, the indian pancake?
her: …?
me: the one where you flip it in the air and it expands! -attempts some kinda twirling and flipping motion with hands-
her: OH! RU-TI POR-A-TA????????
me: IS THAT HOW ITS PRONOUNCED??
singaporean FAIL haha. everyone please learn the legit way of saying it
im going to the watch the homecoming game this weekend with march! the marching illini plays super fun music during homecoming and everyone is just more excited about the fact that its homecoming rather than the game. besides, there is a 40% chance of showers and a possible t-storm so i am totally going in my rainboots and a raincoat because tragically, brollys are NOT ALLOWED. i guess it makes sense, don’t want to get my eyes poked out man
